As part of a master plan, this project continues work identified by Lucas/Schwering in an effort to assist the Magoffin County School District in maintaining and improving their facilities. As school funding has allowed, various phases of the master plan have been implemented.
The addition to the high school facility includes a new kitchen, new administrative offices, three new classrooms and a music suite. Renovation to a portion of the existing facility includes replacing interior finishes including paint, ceilings, floors and lights; renovation of toilet rooms; and the reconfiguration of existing spaces. Improvements also include upgrades to all mechanical and life safety systems.
The addition of the new administrative offices at the front of the building provides for a more secure facility and establishes a new entry to the community. Improvements to both traffic and pedestrian flow enhance this educational campus.
